Citrus College came out firing on all cylinders and held on for a three-set sweep over Cal Lutheran JV Wednesday night (25-15, 25-15, 26-24).

The Owls improve to 2-7 on the year with the win.

Kalin Greene had a monstrous game with 17 kills with no errors on 24 attempts to finish with a .708 attack percentage. Caren Stone followed with 10 kills and added 14 digs, while Alexis Aguayo finished with 16 digs. Vanessa Marquez had 39 assists to help fuel the Owl offense.

The Owls hit at a .353 clip to open the game, despite some struggles from the service line. Citrus followed with a .306 attack percentage in the second set to head into the third with some steam.

Cal Lutheran put up a fight in the third set and opened with six unanswered points, but the Owls chipped away at the lead and eventually tied it up 8-8 off a kill from Miah Soriano.

Citrus tried to get some separation and built a four-point lead, 17-13, off two kills from Greene and an ace from Stone, but the Regals fought back to tie the set at 24-24.

Greene smacked down a kill to put the Owls within match point and a Cal Lutheran error sealed the victory.

The Owls turn right around to host Cuesta College on Friday at 6 p.m. in the Owls' Nest.
