Oxnard, CA -- The Citrus College Cross Country program will have three individuals representing the Owls in a couple of weeks at the Southern California Championships. Freshmen Diego Lopez and Alexandra Contreras along with sophomore Julia Galvez have all earned a spot in the SoCal Finals after their performances yesterday at the 2013 Western State Conference Championships.

Lopez paced a 10th place effort for the Men out of 12 competing teams on Thursday afternoon. Lopez finished the four mile course with a sterling time of 21:25.88, good enough for 11th place overall out of 127 runners. Freshman Jerrick Basallo was the next Owl through the chute finishing in 67th place (23:34.07), while freshman Kelley Collins wasn't too much further behind in 70th place (23:38.22). Freshmen Juan Cruz (24:27.74) and Jesse Sandoval (24:32.42) finished out the top five places for the Owls with 87th and 88th place finishes.

On the women's side it was also a 10th place finish, but out of 14 teams. Contreras was the leader for the Owls, finishing in 17th place with a time of 20:05.08. Galvez wasn't too much further behind her in 47th place with a time of 21:02.59. Freshman Jackeline Perez (52nd, 21:10.93), sophomore Marilyn Meza (64th, 21:40.94), and freshman Carol Hinostro (78th, 22:25.09) rounded out the top five finishers for Citrus.
