Owls Wrap Up 2014 Season With Strong Showing at State

Fresno, CA -- The Citrus College Men’s and Women’s Cross Country wrapped up their 2014 campaigns on Saturday morning when they competed in the 2014 California Community College Athletic Association Cross Country State Championships. The Owls finished strong with the men finishing in 17th place and the women 24th place in Woodward Park.

Men and Women Back in State Championships for First Time In 20 Years

Van Nuys, CA -- For the first time in two decades, both the Men’s and Women’s Citrus College Cross Country teams will be competing at the 2014 California Community College Athletic Association State Championships as teams. The Owls qualified for the final race of the year, thanks to their performances at the 2014 Southern California Championships on Friday, where the men finished 15th and the women 18th.

Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Move on to SoCals

Ventura, CA -- For the first time since 2006, the Citrus College Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams have both advanced to the Southern California Championships. The Owls will be there in two weeks thanks to their performance at the 2014 Western State Conference Championships on Friday where the men finished 4th and the women 5th.

On Track

Santa Barbara, CA -- The Citrus College Cross Country team kept things on track this past weekend as they participated in the Santa Barbara City College Cross Country Invitational. The Owls men finished 6th out of 13 competing teams, while the Owl women finished 4th out of the 10 schools present.

The Difference a Year Makes

Los Angeles, CA -- One year ago, the Citrus College Cross Country program, while improving, was still finishing in the back half of the Western State Conference pack, with the women finishing 12th and the men 10th at the 2013 WSC Preview. What a difference a year makes, as the Owls made a huge leap in 2014, with the women finishing 4th out of 14 competing schools and the men 5th out of 14 schools.

Freshman Andres Aparicio was the second male across the line for the Owls, while freshman Yaiza Crawford was the third.
Owls Have Historic Day at SoCal Preview

Van Nuys, CA -- On a day that pitted the Citrus College Cross Country programs against the best in the South and one of the best teams in the State, the Owls had a historic day. Citrus posted its best finishes in recent memory at the 2014 SoCal Preview at Woodley Park, as the women were 9th out of 31 teams, and the men 13th out of 31 schools.

Owls Keep Strong at Tour de Cuesta

San Luis Obispo, CA -- The Citrus College Cross Country program picked up where they left off a couple of weeks ago and continued their strong start at Friday afternoon’s Tour de Cuesta. The Owls women finished third out of eight teams, while the men finished a respectable fifth out of eight schools, defeating the other two WSC schools who participated.

A Blazing Start

Ventura, CA — The Citrus College Cross Country program got their 2014 season off to a blazing start on Friday afternoon at the 2014 Ventura Invitational. The Owls posted one of their best ever finishes at the event on both the men’s and women’s side, as the men took fifth out of twelve competing teams, while the women finished fourth out of the nine squads that participated.

Breakout

In her second year at the helm of the Citrus College Cross Country program, Head Coach Alicia Longyear, has the Owls poised for a breakout campaign. With a full year of recruiting under her belt, and arguably one of the most talented teams in recent memory, expectations are higher than normal around the Citrus runners.
