Owls Keep Strong at Tour de Cuesta

San Luis Obispo, CA -- The Citrus College Cross Country program picked up where they left off a couple of weeks ago and continued their strong start at Friday afternoon's Tour de Cuesta. The Owls women finished third out of eight teams, while the men finished a respectable fifth out of eight schools, defeating the other two WSC schools who participated.

Freshman Janet Meza-Avila took the lead for the Citrus women  on Friday, finishing 10th overall with a time of 21:24.49. Fellow frosh Antonella Curinga was just behind her in 11th place with a time of 21:34.50. Sophomore Jessica McMillen was the third Owl through the chute with a 16th place finish and a time of 21:52.82, while freshman Yaiza Crawford was the fourth Owl in, with a time of 22:39.77 and 25th place overall finish.

On the men's side, it was Daniel Hernandez-Cabrera, who once again paced the Owl effort. Hernandez-Cabrera finished 12th overall with a time of 22:37.91. Freshman Andrew Ballin came in behind him with a 26th place finish and time of 23:26.80. Freshman Alexander Evangelista and sophomore Kelly Collins rounded out the top four finishes for the Owls with a 32nd place (23:47.64) and 39th place (24:00.18) finishes respectively.

Citrus will be right back out on the course next week when they take part in the 2014 Southern California Preview at Woodley Park in Van Nuys, CA. The women's race should kick things off at 9:30 AM.
