San Diego, CA -- For the first time this season, the Citrus College Baseball team recorded back to back road wins thanks to their play on Saturday at San Diego Mesa. The Owls had 14 hits and played error free baseball in a 6-4 victory over the Olympians.

Sophomore Johnathon Reynoso got things going in the top of the second when he brought in sophomore Nathen Virgen from third with a sacrifice fly to left field. Citrus would score another in the top of the third via a Mesa error, and then a third in the top of the fifth, when sophomore Michael Bradley doubled down the left field line bring in freshman Richard Chavez.

San Diego Mesa rallied with a pair in the bottom of the fifth, but Citrus never trailed. The Owls added three more runs in each of the sixth, seventh, and ninth innings to seal the deal. On the mound, freshmen Steve Mendoza and Nicholas Sergi were strong. Mendoza went the first three innings, giving up no runs and no hits, but did walk two while striking out a trio of Olympian batters. Sergi meanwhile got credit for the victory, pitching the final three and two-thirds innings, allowing just one hit, no runs, and striking out a pair.

With the win, Citrus improves to 5-5 on the year. The Owls will be back out on the road this Tuesday when they travel to San Bernardino Valley College to take on the Wolverines at 2:00 PM.
