Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Baseball team improved to 3-0 against Antelope Valley College this season on Thursday afternoon with a 9-1 win over the visiting Marauders. The Owls handled the game from the start, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first en route to the eight run victory.

The Owls' runs came early, with the first score going thanks to a fielding error by Antelope Valley. Freshman Benjamin Aguilera would follow that up with a RBI double to center field, which was then followed by a 2-RBI single to center field by freshman Jesse Villalobos that made it 4-0.

AVC would score a run in the top of the second, but Citrus got it back in the bottom half of the inning when freshman Kristian Scott hit a sacrifice fly to center field. The Owls followed that up with three runs in the bottom of the fifth via a home run to left-center field by freshman Andre Flores, and a solo home run by freshman Donovyn Curiel in the bottom of the sixth.

Sophomore Brennan Piceno would get the win on the afternoon, his fourth of the season, after five innings in which he surrendered two total hits, no walks, no runs, and struck out five. Villalobos and Curiel would both go 2 for 3, while Aguilera was 2 for 4.

With the win, Citrus improves to 13-12-2 overall and 6-3-1 in WSC East play. The Owls will close out the regular season series with AVC on Saturday in Lancaster at 1:00 PM.
