Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Baseball team claimed their only conference sweep of the 2017 season on Friday afternoon with a 12-3 win over visiting Barstow College. Sophomore Roberto Baldanebro pitched a complete game, and the Owls racked up 14 hits in the win.

Despite the final result, it was Barstow that landed the first blow, scoring an unearned run off Baldanebro in the top of the first inning. Citrus didn't respond until the bottom of the third, when an RBI single through the right side of the field plated sophomore Jordan Achay and made it 1-1.

The Owls would post a big bottom of the fifth, getting RBIs from Campos and freshman Kristian Scott. A throwing error on a steal attempt in that same inning allowed freshman Donovyn Curiel to score from third base, and by innings end, Citrus led 4-1. Barstow would cut the lead in half in the top of the sixth, with another unearned score, but the Owls finally put the game away in the bottom of the sixth with five runs. Curiel, Campos, Scott, and freshman Benjamin Aguilera all drove in runs in the frame.

The Vikings would add their third and final run in the top of the eighth. Citrus meanwhile got an RBI double from sophomore Jacob Gafford and a 2-RBI single through the right side by sophomore Kyosuke Ushimaru, both in the bottom of the eighth to more than secure the win.

Campos would finish 4-for-5 with three runs and three RBIs in the win. Scott, Aguilera, and Ushimaru would all collect a pair of hits. Baldanebro finished with a line of nine innings, eight hits, two walks, seven K's and just one earn run, while earning his fifth win of the season. It's the second complete game of his career, and the first this season.

With the win, Citrus improves to 21-17-2 on the season and 11-8-1 in WSC East play. The Owls will close out the season tomorrow when they complete their original finale with Glendale College back at the end of March. First pitch will be set for 1:00 PM with the game picking up in the Top of the 16th inning.
