Seven Owls Grab All-Conference Honors

Seven Citrus College baseball players earned All-Western State Conference honors following the conclusion of the season.

Nicholas Santiago and Connor Green led the Owls with first-team honors, while Devon Diaz and Chad Green picked up second-team recognition, and Diego Gonzales, Jason Armendariz and Jin Hattori rounded out the group with honorable mention distinctions.

Santiago finished the year second on the team with a .417 batting average in conference action with 30 hits, including two doubles and a triple. He scored 21 runs and batted in 13 others, while also drawing nine walks.

Connor Green had a stellar collegiate debut season, boasting a .440 conference batting average and .398 overall batting average – the third highest in the conference. He led the Owls with 43 RBIs after knocking nine home runs on the year. Connor also had 13 doubles and drew 15 walks to finish with a .711 slugging percentage. Defensively, he made 190 putouts with 12 assists and helped turn 11 double plays.

Diaz, who also won a Golden Glove Award as an outfielder, finished the year batting .324 with 47 hits, of which six were doubles, two were triples and one was a home run. He scored a team-high 44 runs, drove in 22 RBIs and stole 18 bases. Diaz led the team after drawing 34 walks, which ranked second in the conference. Defensively, Diaz only committed one error in the outfield, leading to his .993 fielding percentage with 130 putouts.

Chad Green finished the year batting .351 and boasting a .582 slugging percentage. He had seven doubles and eight home runs on the year, scoring 28 runs and batting in 34 RBIs.

Gonzales ended the year with a .324 batting average, knocking four doubles and a triple, while also drawing 17 walks. In 25 games, he scored 18 runs and drove in 13 others. Defensively, Gonzales caught 12 runners trying to steal bases.

Armendariz finished his rookie season with 19 hits, including three doubles, 18 runs, and 12 RBIs. Defensively, he made 20 putouts and assisted on 46 others, helping turn one double play.

Hattori capped off the year with 22 hits, including three doubles and a home run. He scored 10 runs and batted in 18 others, while also grabbing 16 putouts and assisting 38 times.
