Former Citrus College assistant coach Chris Acker is ready to help lead his team at the NCAA Final Four this weekend.

Acker is in his fourth season as an assistant coach at San Diego State University, which became the first Mountain West Conference team to reach the national semifinals and won the South Region championship as a No. 5 seed in the tournament.

At SDSU, Acker's main responsibilities include recruiting and player development with an emphasis on the team's offense.

Acker was an assistant coach with the Owls for six years, including two with current Citrus Head Coach Brett Lauer, where Citrus amassed a 92-9 record – the second-winningest assistant coach behind Doc Wellman.  He helped the Owls win the CCCAA State Championship in 2008 and claim four Western State Conference championships.

The Aztecs take on ninth-seeded Florida Atlantic on Saturday at 3 p.m. Pacific for a chance to compete for the NCAA National Championship on Monday.
