Citrus College dug deep to grab a 109-102 overtime victory over MiraCosta College Tuesday night.

The Owls improve to 1-1 on the young year, while the Spartans drop to 0-2.

Tyrel Creger led the Owls with 30 points on 10-of-18 shooting, while Rudy Suarez followed with 18 points (5-for-13) and JJ Mitchell chipped in 17 points on impressive 7-for-10 shooting. Brandon Super (5-for-7) added 13 points, while Malik Khouzam (4-for-16) and EJ Bryson (3-for-10) each finished with 11 points.

The Owls out-rebounded the Spartans 52-to-38 with Mitchell leading Citrus with nine rebounds. Creger, Suber and Bryson each added six boards.

MiraCosta came up clutch with a big three-point shot with just seconds left on the clock to send the game into overtime.

Despite the momentum in the visitors' favor, Citrus scored the first points of the extra period after Suber banked in a shot from Mitchell to spark an 11-0 run. It shifted momentum to the Owls, who held on for the 109-102 victory.

The Owls look to build on the win as they host Pasadena City College on Friday at 3 p.m.
