Lauer, Five Owls Earn All-WSC Honors

After leading Citrus College to its sixth conference championship in seven seasons, Brett Lauer was named Co-Coach of the Year and five Owls grabbed all-conference honors. Tyrel Creger, JJ Mitchell and Malik Khouzam were named to the first team, while Grant Martin and Rudy Suarez picked up honorable mention.

In his eighth year (seventh season), Lauer led the Owls to their sixth conference championship and seventh-straight postseason appearance to grab his fifth Coach of the Year honor.

Creger finished the year averaging 14.4 points per game, scoring double-digit points in 22 games, while also dishing out 3.5 assists per game. He scored a career-best 30 points to help the Owls grab a 109-102 overtime win over MiraCosta early in the year.

Mitchell led the Owls with a 15.0 points per game average on a 51.0 shooting percentage and scored in double figures in 22 games. He also had 10 double-doubles on the year, finishing the year averaging 8.5 rebounds per game – which ranks third all-time in the Citrus record book.

Khouzam proved to be a threat from the perimeter for the Owls, averaging 2.6 three-pointers per game. He finished the year with an 11.6 points per game average, scoring in double figures 20 times.

Martin provided depth off the bench for Citrus, averaging 5.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. He had two double-doubles on the year and finished the year with a 43.5 field goal percentage.

Suarez was another threat from the arc, averaging 1.9 three-pointers per game. He finished the year averaging 8.5 points per game and led the team with 1.9 steals per game.
