Glendora ,CA (Men's Soccer) -- The Citrus College Men's Soccer team nabbed their first Western State Conference win of the 2012 season on Friday afternoon in Citrus College Stadium. The Owls put together one of their most complete matches of the year, soaring to a 2-0 win over visiting Moorpark College.

The Owls would control the contest from the opening touch, outshooting the Raiders 8-2 in the first half alone. Despite the fact Citrus would maintain the majority of possession in the first half, they were shutout in that first 45 minutes as the two teams went into the break knotted up at 0-0.

In the second half, the Owls would get their chance to break it open and they did just that. Sophomore Yusaku Kato notched his first career goal in the 50th minute when he received a pass from Josh Luevanos from outside the box and fired it into the back of the net.

Moments later sophomore Diego Mercado scored his second goal of the year when he took a deep pass from freshman Silbestre Valencia into the box, beat the last defender and then the keeper to make it 2-0 in the 56th minute.

With the win, the Owls improve to 2-3-1 on the year and 1-2 in WSC play. The Owls will be on the road on Tuesday when they take on College of the Canyons. First touch is set for 4:00 PM in Santa Clarita.
