San Bernardino, CA -- The Citrus College Men's Soccer program officially kicked off their 2013 season on Tuesday afternoon when they travelled to the Inland Empire to take on San Bernardino Valley College. Unfortunately for the Owls, they were sent back home with a loss, as they dropped their season opener 1-0.

The host Wolverines dominated the ball throughout the first half, out shooting the Owls 10-4. One of those ten shots found the back of the net, when sophomore keeper Gregory Veron let the only ball past him on the day in the 25th minute. Veron did have a strong start in goal for the Owls stopping six of the seven shots he faced.

In the second half Citrus showed a few more signs off life offensively. The Owls were still outshot, this time 7-3, but they did manage to earn four corners in the final 45 minutes, compared to just two by the Wolverines. Still Citrus came up empty, as they fell one-nil.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 0-1 on the young season. The Owls will get a chance to secure their first win of the year on Friday when they hit the road again, this time heading South to take on San Diego Mesa College. That match is set for a 4:00 PM start.
