San Diego, CA -- After taking a disappointing loss in their season opener on Tuesday afternoon, the Citrus College Men's Soccer team rebounded in a huge way on Friday afternoon as they put five on San Diego Mesa College. The Owls scored early and never really took their foot off the gas, as they cruised to the 5-0 win.

Freshman midfielder, Austin Amato got the fun started in the 12th minute when he scored an unassisted goal. Freshman forward Grayson Iwasaki got in on the action in the 36th minute when he took a pass from freshman forward Antonio Bernal and gave the Owls a 2-0 lead. That wasn't it for the first half either, as sophomore defender Silbestre Valencia scored off a pass from freshman forward Daniel Ortiz to give the Owls a dominating 3-0 advantage at the break.

The Owls kept it rolling in the second half, when freshman forward Shusuke Kajiwara scored Citrus' fourth goal of the night off a penalty shot in the 53rd minute. Finally in the 90th minute, Iwasaki scored once more for good measure, this time thanks to an assist from freshman Benny Martinez.

With the win, Citrus improves to 1-1 on the year. The Owls will try and keep that momentum going through next week, until they take the pitch for their home opener next Friday September 6th. The Owls will be hosting Cuyamaca College, with the match scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM.
