Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Men's Soccer went out to Santa Barbara City College on Tuesday night, and let one slip against the Vaqueros. The Owls had leads of 1-0 and 2-1, as well as the game tied up at 3-3 late in the second half, but Citrus eventually fell 4-3.
Freshman Edgar Diaz got the scoring going with a goal just eight minutes into the contest. The Vaqueros answered one minute later, but the tone and tempo was set early. Citrus would pull ahead 2-1 after sophomore Takuro Kawashima struck pay dirt for the second consecutive game, this time on a free kick from 21 yards out. Just like the first time though, Santa Barbara had an answer scoring in the 32nd minute to send the game tied up at 2-2 at halftime.
In the second half, Santa Barbara pulled ahead for the first time with a score four minutes in. Citrus would pull the game back into a tie two minutes later in the 51st minute when freshman Paymon Minaie took a back heel pass from freshman Yuwa Yamamoto to make it 3-3. Alas, Citrus gave up the fourth and deciding goal in the 75th minute as they fell for the fourth time this conference season.
With the loss, Citrus falls to 2-6-2 overall and 1-4-1 in WSC South play. The Owls will embark on their longest road trip of the year this Friday when they head out to Allan Hancock College for a 4:00 PM meeting with the Bulldogs.
