Citrus College opened Western State Conference action with a big 4-0 victory over Glendale College on Tuesday.

The Owls improve to 6-3-3 on the year and start conference with a 1-0-0 mark after picking up their first conference win since 2019 – which also was against Glendale. The Vaqueros drop to 5-7-1 overall and 0-1-0 in WSC action.

Citrus out-shot Glendale 22-to-10 and had a good look early on when Anthony Martinez fired off a shot that missed just wide of the far post upper corner.

Five minutes later, the Vaqueros gave the Owls a scare with a look at an open goal, but Ty Robnett came out of nowhere to slide and block the shot, keeping it tied 0-0.

Just before halftime, Citrus exploded out to a 2-0 lead off back-to-back goals from Takechika Ito. Sammy Ghandour assisted on the first one and less than a minute later, Jacob Derayal assisted Ito's second goal.

Ghandour scored both the Owls' goals in the second half, first capitalizing in the 50th minute off an Ito assist. He struck again just two minutes before the final whistle blew after Alan Lira sent a long ball onto Jacob Ponce, who found Ghandour for his seventh goal of the year.

The Owls remain at home and host College of the Canyons on Friday at 3:00 p.m.
