Citrus College closed out its best season since 2016 on Thursday, battling LA Pierce College at home.
The Owls dropped a 3-1 loss to the Brahmas to finish the year with a 9-9-3 overall and 4-6-0 Western State Conference-South mark. LA Pierce improved to 8-8-3 on the year, 6-3-1 in conference.
Takechika Ito scored the lone goal for the Owls in the 25th minute, knocking in an assist from Hector Guevara.
Pierce drew a penalty kick just before halftime to even the score and took the lead less than a minute into the second half. Seconds before time expired, the Brahmas were awarded another PK to seal the 3-1 victory.
Five sophomores were honored at halftime for their contributions to the Citrus men's soccer program: Jose Alvarez-Novales, David Carrera, Alan Lira, Javier Torres and Ito.
