Owls Split on Day Two of Labor Day Tournament

Citrus College capped off the Southwestern College Labor Day Tournament Saturday, beating San Diego Miramar in the first game of the day but falling 17-7 to Grossmont College.

The Owls move to 2-5 with the split.

In the opener, Jullian Nichols led the Owls with five goals, six steals and two assists. Logan Haberle followed with four goals and added two steals. Rolan Solis and Nathan Salcedo found the back of the cage twice each, while Solis added six assists and two steals. Bailey Wood and Cristian Duran each scored once and had a steal, while Gavin Tanner had one assist and Jacob Cruz had three.

Matteo Velasquez made eight saves and one steal in the cage.

In the nightcap, Salcedo and Duran led the Owls with two goals, while Haberle, Nichols and Solis each netted a goal. Nichols assisted on three of the Owls' goals.

Velasquez finished with 18 saves in the cage for Citrus.

The Owls head to CalTech on Thursday for a 3 p.m. game.
