Owls Push Past Panthers

Citrus College snapped a six-game losing streak with a 10-8 victory over Chaffey College.

The Owls improve to 5-16 on the year, while the Panthers drop to 1-10 on the year.

Chaffey scored first and took a 4-3 lead after the first quarter, but the Owls battled back and scored four unanswered goals in the second to hold a 7-4 upper hand at halftime.

Citrus pushed its lead to four goals at one point, 10-6, before the Panthers closed out the game with two goals.

Matteo Velasquez wouldn't allow any more to secure the 10-8 victory for the Owls, finishing with 17 saves and three steals in the cage.

Logan Haberle led the Owls with five goals and dished out three assists. Jullian Nichols scored two goals, assisted twice, and grabbed four steals. Gavin Tanner also had two goals, while Cristian Duran dished out two assists. Rolan Solis also had a goal for the Owls.

Citrus resumes conference action next week, heading to LA Valley on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
