Sophomores Shine on Sophomore Day

Citrus College's sophomores shined on Sophomore Day as the Owls grabbed a dominating 18-9 victory over Crafton Hills and followed with a tight 15-13 loss to Rio Hondo.

The Owls move to 6-18 overall with the split.

In the first game, sophomore Jullian Nichols scored seven goals and dished out six assists, while grabbing five steals. Fellow sophomore Rolan Solis scored five goals and added another three assists and four steals.

Matteo Velasquez finished with 10 saves in the cage to preserve the win.

In the nightcap, Nichols added six goals, another assist, and four steals, while Gavin Tanner rattled in four goals and dished out two assists. Haberle posted with two goals and had three assists.

Velasquez made 10 saves in the cage for Citrus.

The Owls head to the Southwestern Tournament tomorrow, hitting the water less than 12 hours after finishing competing tonight with a 9 a.m. contest against Grossmont College.
