Seven Owls Earn All-WSC Honors

After a third-place finish at the Western State Conference Tournament, Citrus College saw seven Owls earn all-conference.

Jullian Nichols, Rolan Solis and Matteo Velasquez each picked up first-team honors, while Logan Haberle and Eric Ramirez grabbed spots on the second team and Jacob Cruz and Nathan Salcedo were named Honorable Mention.

Nichols finished his sophomore campaign with a team-high 116 goals, which sits third all-time in the Citrus record book and ranked second in the CCCAA. He also added 55 assists, 105 steals (second in the CCCAA and sixth all-time for Citrus), 46 ejections drawn, and 15 blocks after starting all 31 games for the Owls. 

Solis also had a solid sophomore year, finishing with 51 goals, 56 assists and 39 steals in 30 games for Citrus. He drew 34 ejections and had five blocks on the year.  

Velasquez put in a lot of work in the cage for the Owls, finishing with 325 saves on the year, which was the second-most in the State and ranks in the top five on the Citrus record book. He posted a career-high 20 saves against San Diego Miramar, which ranks fourth all-time. Velasquez also finished the year with 56 steals and 25 assists. 

Haberle had a standout freshman year, finishing second on the team with 63 goals and a team-high 72 assists (third in the State and fifth all-time). He also added 27 steals, 41 ejections drawn, and five blocks on the year. 

Ramirez was a big presence for the Owls defensively, helping shut down the opposition. He finished with seven goals, 13 assists, and nine steals on the year. 

Cruz made his collegiate debut and finished with 10 goals, 17 assists, and five steals. He also drew four ejections and had three blocks.  

Salcedo finished his freshman season with 38 goals, 11 assists, and 15 steals. He also added seven drawn ejections and five blocks for the Owls.
