Citrus College opened strong and held on for a 15-8 victory over Ventura College to take third in the Western State Conference Tournament on Saturday.

The Owls close out the year with a 14-11 record, while the Pirates finish 11-14.

Brian de Lama had a stellar game in the cage for the Owls, posting 19 saves to help preserve the win.

Colton Vale was unstoppable with six goals, while Riley Bagley and Killian Pressley each rattled in three goals. Devon Dow, Logan Haberle, and Thomas Gibson also scored for the Owls.

Citrus jumped out to a 5-2 lead after the first quarter, but Ventura tried to keep the game close and remained the three-goal deficit heading into the final minutes of action.

Vale scored back-to-back goals within 40 seconds of each other early in the fourth, sparking five unanswered Citrus goals to all but seal the victory.
