Owls Get Comeback Win At Antelope Valley

Lancaster, CA -- The Citrus College Softball team faced early adversity on Tuesday afternoon, and fought through it. The Owls trailed early to host Antelope Valley College and came back big defeating the Marauders, who will join the WSC Blue Division next year, 10-6.

The Owls dug themselves into an early hole, trailing 3-0 after two. Citrus tied the game back up in the top of the third, but when back down 5-3 after the Marauders scored a pair in the bottom of the inning. That's when the Owls made their move.

Citrus scored a run in each of the fourth and fifth innings the tie the game up at five scores a piece. In the sixth they scored two more and then went up 10-5 after three big runs in the top of the seventh. Antelope scored once in the bottom of the seventh, but the Owls nailed it down and held on to the win.

Freshman Kawehi Ephan was 2 for 5 on the day with a pair of runs, and five RBI's. Included in those two hits was her seventh home run of the year, putting her just three shy of the program record just six games into the season. Sophomore Rebecca Ireland was 2 for 4 with two scores and three RBI's, while sophomore Carissa Bender earned the win over Antelope Valley with four innings of work giving up just two hits and a run.

With the win, Citrus improves to 4-2 on the year. The Owls will be back out on the field this Friday when they host College of the Desert for a 2:00 PM showdown.
