Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Softball team got their biggest win of the 2013 season thus far on Tuesday afternoon when they hosted State #15 Santa Ana College. The Owls bombed away, scoring five runs, all on home runs, upsetting the Dons 5-3.

Both teams threatened in the first inning, but both teams were turned away. Freshman Arianna Sanchez, who got the start for the Owls on Tuesday, worked her way out of a two out first and second base jam, while the Owls stranded runners on the corners in the bottom half of the inning.

In the top of the second, the Dons tagged Sanchez for a run with a solo home run to right field. The Owls reciprocated in the bottom half of the inning, when sophomore Angela Aguinaga, who set the single season program record for home runs in a season last year at 10, hit her first dinger of the year to center field to knot the game back up at one each.

Sanchez would cruise through the third, before giving up an unearned score in the fourth. Again the Owls came through, as Aguinaga launched her second homer of the game, again to center field to tie the game back up at two all.

In the top of the fifth, Sanchez, got out of another jam, striking out the final batter of the inning and leaving runners on second and third base. In the bottom of the inning, the Citrus offense finally gave her some breathing room, when freshman Sara Moore launched a three run shot to put the Owls up 5-2.

Sanchez had a smooth sixth, and then gave up just a single run in the top of the seventh, to preserve her second win of the year. Sanchez finished with a complete game seven hitter, striking out four batters in the process.

At the plate, Aguinaga led the way going 3 for 3 with the two RBI's and two runs, and Moore was 2 for 3 with a run and three RBI's.

With the win, Citrus improves to 5-3 on the season. The Owls will be back at home on Thursday when they host Santa Monica College in their Western State Conference Blue Division Opener. Game one of the double-header is set for a 1:00 PM start time.
