Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College softball team scored 11 runs in their first three innings of Tuesday afternoons contest against Fullerton College. That gargantuan lead allowed the Owls to run away with the game en route to a 13-3 five inning win.

Sophomore Bre Lockett got things going with a one out solo home run to right-center field in the bottom of the first inning to put the Owls up 1-0. Citrus would go on to score twice more later in the inning both thanks to an error committed by the Hornets.

Citrus kept it going in the bottom of the second inning when freshman Kawehi Ephan hit another tape measure shot. Her clobbering of the first pitch she saw cleared the scoreboards in center field and banged off the top of the fence that encloses the entire complex. For good measure, she hit it with a pair of runners on board.

The Owls continued to pile on the runs with one more in the second, thanks to another Fullerton error. In the third sophomore Jessica Gonzalez hit a three run dinger over the left field fence. Sophomore Rebecca Ireland followed that up with an RBI single later on in the inning. In the fourth, Citrus put the game away for good when freshman Alyssa Lozano laced a two RBI triple up the right field line to put the Owls at their 13 runs scored.

Sophomore Carissa Bender earned the win scattering four hits and three runs over three and a third innings worth of work. Freshman Arianna Sanchez pitched the final inning and two thirds holding the Hornets to a single hit and no runs.

With the win, Citrus improves to 8-3 on the year. The Owls resume conference play on Thursday when they travel to LA Valley College for a WSC Blue Division double-header with the Monarchs. First pitch in game one is set for 1:00 PM.
