Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Softball team stopped a four game skid on Tuesday afternoon. The Owls jumped out to a 4-0 lead and then held on tight as they stopped visiting LA Mission College 4-3 on Tuesday.

Freshman Sara Moore started things off for the Owls with a two RBI single through the right side of the field in the bottom of the third inning. Sophomore Bre Lockett kept it going in the bottom of the fourth with a ground rule double that drove in sophomore Katherine Cunningham. Lockett would score a few plays later on a double steal, that put Citrus up 4-0.

With a few runs at her back, freshman Arianna Sanchez continued to try to keep the potent Mission offense at bay. She did a great job of it through the first four innings, but the Eagles would not be held in check all day long as they scored twice in the top of the fifth. In the seventh, LA Mission would drive in a single run with a sacrifice fly to center field that also recorded the second out of the inning. With Mission still threatening and runners on first and second Sanchez reached back and got a fielder's choice groundout to third to close out the game and secure the win.

In the win, Sanchez (5-4) struck out a season high eight batters. Meanwhile Lockett and Moore were both 2 for 4 at the plate. With the win, Citrus improves to 10-7 on the year and more importantly 3-1 in conference play. Citrus will be back out on the field on Thursday when they take on arguably their toughest opponent of the conference schedule when they play State #7 College of the Canyons in a double-header. First pitch in the first game is set for 1:00 PM in Santa Clarita.
