San Diego, CA -- The Citrus College Softball team headed South for their final 2013 regular season non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon. The trip back was likely enjoyable as the Owls sunk host San Diego City College 6-0 on their home field.

Citrus started to put runs on the board right off the bat, using a sacrifice fly from sophomore Bre Lockett, and a run from sophomore Angela Aguinaga on a San Diego error to take an early 2-0 lead. Citrus added another score in the top of the third, thanks to an RBI double from freshman Victoria Baltazar.

Freshman Arianna Sanchez had her second straight solid stretch in the circle for the Owls on Saturday afternoon. Sanchez didn't need much help from the offense, scattering five hits a walk, and one run over a complete game of work. Sanchez also struck out a trio of Knight hitters to improve to 14-7 on the year.

Sanchez got even more help in the top of the sixth. Sophomore Veronica Ramirez drove in a pair off a single, and freshman Kawehi Ephan plated a run thanks to an error by San Diego. San Diego scored a single run in the bottom of the sixth, but that was all as the Owls improved to 11 games over .500.

With the win, Citrus improves to 23-12 on the year. The Owls will be on the road again on Tuesday when they close out the regular and conference season at Bakersfield College. First pitch is set for 5:00 PM.
