Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Softball team continued their early 2014 slate on Wednesday afternoon when they played host to Rio Hondo College. It was all Owls as Citrus shutdown an explosive Roadrunners offensive in an 11-2 five inning win for the Owls.

Sophomore Arianna Sanchez, who got the start in the circle, helped her own cause in the bottom of the first inning when she blasted a solo home run to center field. Sophomore Raeleen Tellez and freshman Haylie Roach added to it in the bottom with a pair of RBI singles that made it 3-0.

Meanwhile in the circle Sanchez was steady. She did give up a two out two run home run in the top of the fourth, but she was more than good enough to pick up her third win of the year scattering six hits and a pair of walks, while striking out two more batters.

Up 3-2, Citrus closed the game out in the bottom of the fifth. Sophomore Sara Moore and freshman Miranda Gil both had RBI singles, with Gils scoring two runs. After that it was a slew of bases loaded walks and hit by pitch RBI's. Sophomore Christina Skelton and freshmen Bobbi Stalnaker, Kiana "Kalei" Gulliermo, and Erinn Jaramillo all recorded variations of that.

With the win, Citrus improves to 3-0 on the year. The Owls will be on the road on Thursday when they take on Fullerton College with first pitch set for 3:00 PM.
