Owls Fall to Defending State Champs

San Marcos, CA -- The Citrus College Softball program made the trip down to the San Diego area on Tuesday afternoon, to tangle with the defending State Champs Palomar College. The Owls went toe to toe with the Comets, but came up just short falling 4-1.

Citrus got on the board first on Tuesday, when the Owls got a run in the top of the third. The Comets came right back though and tied it up in the bottom half of the inning. In the bottom of the fourth Palomar got to starting pitcher Miranda Gil for three runs, ultimately dooming the Owls.

Gil did suffer the loss on Tuesday, but did strike out a season high 10 batters in her six innings of the work. At the plate sophomore Sara Moore was 1 for 1 with three walks, while Gil was 1 for 3 with the lone Citrus run scored.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 6-4 on the year. The Owls will be back at home on Thursday when they host Cypress College at 2:30 PM.
