Glendora, CA -- For four innings really, the visiting Cypress College Chargers, ranked #3 in the State, had the Citrus College batters a bit confounded at the plate. The Owls trailed 4-1 all the way until the bottom of the fifth, when Citrus finally started to look comfortable. The Owls never gave up and roared all the way back from what started out a 4-0 deficit to grab a 5-4 win over the Chargers in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Cypress wasted little time in putting runs on the board on Thursday. The Chargers scored twice in the first, one in the second, and one more in the third, to take a seemingly commanding 4-0 lead. The Owls never relented though, and slowly worked their way back into the game.

Freshman Miranda Gil (2-3)came on in relief in with two outs in the top of the fourth and shutdown the Cypress bats over the final third and a third innings of play. Gil scatter a pair of hits and walks, while striking out four and not allowing a single run to score.

With Gil firmly in control in the circle, the Owls' bats went to work. Citrus' first run gave via a Charger error on a fly ball to left-center that brought in freshman Kalei Guillermo to make it 4-1 in the bottom of the third. Citrus added another in the bottom of the fifth when freshman Raven Preseau hit a sacrifice fly to center field that scored sophomore Victoria Baltazar to cut the Charger lead in half.

After that the momentum was all Citrus'. In the bottom of the sixth, freshman Erinn Jaramillo laced a double to right-center that just missed going out of the park to score both Gil and sophomore Sara Moore and make it a 4-4 game. In the bottom of the seventh, the Owls finished it for good, when Preseau hit a one out triple. Four pitches later, sophomore Arianna Sanchez lifted a deep fly ball to center field that scored Preseau from third and gave Citrus the 5-4 win.

With the win, Citrus improves to 7-4 overall. The Owls will be off until next Thursday when they kick-off Western State Conference Blue Division play at Los Angeles Mission College. First pitch is set for 2:30 PM.
