Santa Monica & Walnut, CA -- The Citrus College Softball team's week ended with a win and a loss last week. The Owls got a 10-3 win over Santa Monica College in WSC Blue Division play on Thursday and fell short against Mt. San Antonio College on Friday 2-9.
In the conference contest Thursday, Citrus racked up 14 total hits and scored in each of the second, third, fourth, and fifth innings. The Owls actually fell into an 0-2 hole after the first, but took the lead in the third and never looked back. Sophomore Sara Moore went 3 for 5 with a pair of RBI's and a run scored. Sophomore Christina Skelton was 2 for 2 with a pair of runs scored.
In the Friday non-conference game against Mt. SAC, the Owls hung tough with the Mounties for much of the game, until a late mistake. Mt. SAC went up 2-0 after the third, but the Owls answered back with a run in the fourth to make it 1-2. The Mounties rallied with six runs in the bottom of the fifth though to pull away for good. Sophomore Raeleen Tellez was 2 for 3 in the win.
With the win and the loss, Citrus moves to 16-10 overall. The Owls also improved to 8-2 in WSC Blue play thanks to the win over Santa Monica. Citrus will be back at home this week starting with a conference double-header on Tuesday against LA Mission College. First pitch of game one is set for 1:00 PM.
