Monterrey Park, CA -- The Citrus College Softball team picked up a big win on Friday afternoon when they knocked off East Los Angeles College 4-2 in Monterrey Park. The Owls overcame an early deficit and won in extra innings, for their biggest win since their home victory over Cypress College earlier in the year.

Freshman Miranda Gil (10-7) got the start in the circle, and pitched all eight innings. Gil gave up just six hits and walked four, but was able to minizmie the damage with five strikeouts. Meanwhile at the plate the Owls took some time to get going, but came through at the end of the game.

East Los Angeles scored their two runs early, with a pair of scores in the bottom of the third. The Owls cut the lead in half with a run in the fifth, and then tied it up in the top of the seventh. In the top of the eighth, Citrus scored twice more to come away with the win.

With the win, Citrus improves to 20-10 on the season. The Owls have a big week coming up, and it starts off with three games on the road. The first two take place at College of the Canyons on Tuesday. The Cougars are currently a game ahead of the Owls in the WSC Blue Division standings. First pitch for game one, is set for 1:00 PM.
