Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Softball team hosted Los Angeles Mission College on Tuesday afternoon for a WSC Blue Division double-header. The two games were completely different in how the Owls won, but the results were the same as Citrus won 4-1 and 15-4.

In the first game, Citrus needed an impressive effort from freshman Miranda Gil in the circle and some timely hitting to earn the victory. Gil struck out 12 total batters on the day. 10 of those 12 K's accounted for the first 10 outs of the game, as she had a no-hitter going all the way through the sixth inning. The Eagles finally got to Gil in the top of the sixth, but she didn't give them much as she held them to three total hits and just one run in the contest.

With Gil shutting down the opposing bats, the Owls bats took care of business. Citrus managed just seven hits, but scored four runs, more than enough. Sophomore Sara Moore put the Owls on the board in the bottom of the first with a two RBI bases clearing triple. In the bottom of the sixth, Citrus added two more scores, both via RBI singles, one from sophomore Alyssa Lozano, and the other thanks to freshman Megan Troutman. Both Lozano and Moore finished 2 for 3 in that game.

In the second game, the Owls erupted for 15 runs, including a seven run second inning en route to a 15-4 win. Sophomore Arianna Sanchez improved to 10-3 on the year going all five, and spreading out six hits and a walk.

At the plate, Moore was 3 for 4 with a pair of runs and an RBI. Freshman Erinn Jaramillo was 2 for 4 with a pair of runs and a RBI, while sophomore Raeleen Tellez was 2 for 4 with a run and game leading four RBI's.

With the two wins, Citrus improves to 18-10 overall and 10-2 in conference play. The Owls will be back home on Thursday when they host Bakersfield College at 2:30 PM.
