Glendora, CA -- After a rough previous week, the Citrus College Softball team were able to keep some positive momentum going forward on Thursday with a 10-0 five inning win over visiting Bakersfield College. The Owls had 11 hits and got another strong outing from freshman Miranda Gil in the victory.

Citrus wasted little time on Thursday with six runs in the bottom of the first. Gil helped her own cause with an RBI single to left. Sophomore Raeleen Tellez followed that up with a two RBI double down the left-field line, while freshman Valerie Velasquez got in on the act with an RBI single to center. Sophomore Christina Skelton drove in the inning's final runs two at bats later with a two RBI single through the left side of the field.

In the bottom of the second freshman Raven Preseau racked an RBI double to left-center that scored Gil. Citrus put the game away for good in the bottom of the third thanks to RBI's from Skelton, sophomore Arianna Sanchez and freshman Kiana "Kalei" Guillermo. It was more than enough, as Gil only allowed four total hits and no walks in her time in the circle, striking out four batters, and improving to 9-7 on the year.

With the win, Citrus improved to 19-10 overall and 11-2 in conference play. The Owls will be back out on the field tomorrow afternoon when they travel to East Los Angeles College for a 1:00 PM contest.
