Moore Earns March AOTM Honorable Mention Honors and is Named SoCal Player of the Week

Glendora, CA -- It's shaping up to be a big week for Citrus College sophomore Sara Moore. Two days after going 6 for 7 in a double-header at Glendale College, the lefty first baseman earned two awards. Moore was named a California Community College Athletic Association and California Community College Sports Information Association March Female Athlete of the Month Honorable Mention Honoree. In addition, Moore was named the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association Week #10 Southern California Player of the Week.

Moore is just the 11th Owl, male or female, in the awards history to be named a CCCAA Athlete of the Month Honorable Mention selection. Moore, who has had a fantastic sophomore campaign overall, got the award thanks to her big month of March. In the month of March, Moore was an offensive force for the Owls going 25 for 46 (.543) at the plate. Moore scored 16 runs and drove in 15 more, while hitting a pair of doubles, and seven home runs. Arguably more impressively was that in 46 at bats, Moore struck out just twice during the entire month. On the month, Moore posted a 1.043 slugging percentage and a .560 on-base percentage.

Moore was also recently recognized for her stellar week of play during Week #10 of competition (March 30th – April 5th). In four games, Moore was 6 for 12 with three runs scored and four RBI's. Moore hit a pair of doubles, a triple, and drew two walks. Moore didn't strikeout at all during the week, and helped the Owls go 4-0. Moore is just the second Citrus player this season to earn a weekly 3CFCA Award.
