Glendora, CA -- The Citrus College Softball team kept some nice momentum going into the final week of the regular season on Thursday afternoon as they roared past LA Valley College 7-0. The Owls racked up eight hits, and showed patience at the plate with five walks as they improved to 15-4 in WSC Blue play.

Citrus pounced on the Monarchs from the get go scoring twice in the bottom of the first. Freshman Erinn Jaramillo hit an RBI single through to the left side of the field that scored sophomore Sara Moore and freshman Megan Troutman legged out a RBI infield single to the shortstop that scored Jaramillo.

The Owls would be kept off the scoreboard over the next few innings, though it wasn't for a lack of base runners. Finally in the bottom of the fourth, Citrus tacked on three more scores, all thanks to a 3-run blast from Jaramillo that landed outside the second fence in center field. The Owls scored twice more before the game was done, as sophomore Arianna Sanchez had an RBI groundout and sophomore Raeleen Tellez a pinch hit RBI single through the left side of the field, both in the bottom of the sixth.

The run support was nice, but it turned out it wasn't really all that important. Making her first start in a few weeks, freshman Miranda Gil dominated things in the circle. Gil pitched a four hit, one walk, complete game shutout, mixing in eight K's on the day.

With the win, Citrus improves to 25-13 overall and 15-4 in conference games. The Owls will close out the regular season on Tuesday when they host Santa Monica College in a conference double-header. Game one first pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
