Santa Monica and Bakersfield, CA — The Citrus College Softball team kept up with WSC Blue action this past week with road contests at Santa Monica and Bakersfield Colleges. The Owls swept the Corsairs on Tuesday, but fell to Bakersfield 5-6 on Thursday.

Things started off well for the Owls with that pair of victories at Santa Monica. The Owls won the first game in five innings 9-1 and followed that up a few hours later with 8-0 win in five innings of play.

After Thursday's contests, Citrus hit the road again for the longest road trip of the season up the 5 Freeway to the 99 to Bakersfield College. The Owls opened up with a 3-2 lead after the first inning, but after those three runs in the first were shutdown until the seventh. Meanwhile Bakersfield used a three run fifth to take a 5-3 lead. The Owls would knot the game up at five runs all in the top of the seventh, but the Renegades got the walk-off win in the bottom half of that inning 6-5. Sophomore Erinn Jaramillo was 2 for 4 with 3 RBI's in the loss, while freshman Autumn Barthlomoy went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBI's.

With the two wins and the loss, Citrus moves to 22-8 overall and 11-2 in WSC Blue play. The first place Owls have a huge week coming up as they host the second and third place teams in WSC Blue play. Things start off on Tuesday when they host College of the Canyons in a double-header. Citrus currently holds a one game lead over the Cougars for first place. Game one of the double-header is set for 1:00 PM.
