Glendora, CA — The Citrus College Softball team didn't have a single extra base hit, walked only once, and had just two more hits than their opponent on Thursday afternoon when they hosted Antelope Valley College in WSC Blue Division play. The Owls again just got it done, as they went four games up on the second place team in conference with a 6-1 victory.

Antelope recorded the first blow on Thursday with a score in the top of the first. The Owls were unfazed though and rallied with four scores. Sophomore Erinn Jaramillo tied the game up with an RBI groundout, while a single through the right side of the field by sophomore Megan Troutman put the Owls in front 2-1. Freshman Kali Smith chipped in before the inning was over with a single to center field that put Citrus up 3-1.

From there, Citrus got it done in the field. The Owls and freshman pitcher Anissa Gallegos helped stand eight total Marauders over the final six innings to keep Antelope off the scoreboard. Gallegos got some help from the offense.

Sophomore Valerie Velasquez would make it 5-1 in the bottom of the fifth with a pair of RBI's after a  single through the right side of the field drove in Troutman and freshman Sara Diaz. In the bottom of the sixth Jaramillo picked up another RBI with yet another single through the right side that scored freshman Jessica Brown.

With the win, Citrus improved to 25-8 overall and 14-2 in conference play. The Owls will take a break from conference action on Saturday when they travel to El Cajon to take on Grossmont College at noon.
