San Marcos, CA -- The Citrus College Softball programs fantastic 2015 season came to a disappointing end in the second game of the CCCAA Playoff "Super Regional" Round. The Owls gave up a one run lead with two outs in the top of the seventh inning, before going down in extra inning 8-6 to Cerritos College.

The game started off well enough for the Owls as they scored three of their six total runs over the course of the first two innings. Citrus was able to take advantage of a Cerritos fielding miscue in the bottom of the first after a double by sophomore Megan Troutman that plated both Troutman and freshman Stephanie Noriega to give the Owls an early 2-0 lead. Citrus added to it in the bottom of the second when sophomore Erinn Jaramillo drove in freshman Jessica Brown with a single to center field.

Things started to go sideways on the Owls in the top of the fourth when the Falcons got an RBI double to cut the Citrus lead to two. It got worse in the top of the fifth, when the Owls committed an error with two outs to extend the inning. Cerritos made them pay hitting a three-run blast to center field to take a 4-3 lead.

That particular lead wouldn't last long as the Owls answered immediately back in the bottom of the fifth. Freshman Kali Smith came off the bench and delivered a clutch two-out single to left-center that knotted the game back up at 4-4 after she scored Jaramillo. Freshman Sarah Diaz followed suit in the next at bat with another pinch hit RBI single that scored Troutman and made it 5-4 in favor of Citrus.

The lead would last all the way until the top of the seventh with two outs. That's when the Falcons picked up a clutch game tying RBI single to tie the game back up at five runs apiece. Cerritos would keep that momentum going into the top of the eighth where they added three more scores. Citrus would come back in the bottom of the eighth, and watch as sophomore Kiana "Kalei" Guillermo led the inning off with a triple to right field. Brown would drive her in with a sacrifice fly to center field, but that's all the offense Citrus had left in the loss.

With the loss, Citrus ends its season with a 32-11 record.
