Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Softball team stop a three game losing streak on Thursday afternoon, scratching out a 3-2 win against visiting Rio Hondo College. The Owls came up with just six hits on the day, but sophomore Autumn Bartholomy earned her first victory in the circle after holding the Roadrunners to just five hits, two runs, and one walk, while striking out five batters.

Sophomore Haley Gomez kicked off the scoring with a lead-off home run in the bottom of the first. Rio Hondo would come right back in the top of the second, and plate a pair of runs to go on top 2-1. The Owls would have an immediate answer when sophomore Kali Smith hit a double that bounced just on the outfield grass behind first base and rolled to the wall on the east part of the field, scoring freshman Ashley "Nikki" Soto from first and making it 2-2.

The game would stay tied up over the next two innings, as the two teams put goose eggs up on the scoreboard in the third and fourth innings. After Bartholomy got through another scoreless inning in the top of the fifth, Citrus went back in front of Rio Hondo on a RBI groundout by freshman Alyssa Rodriguez that scored freshman Karissa Martinez.

Bartholomy would face just one batter above the minimum in the sixth and seventh innings, with the only base runner getting on via an Owl error.

With the win, Citrus improves to 3-7 on the year. The Owls will be back in action next Thursday when they open up WSC Blue play at Santa Monica College at 2:30 PM.
