Cypress, CA - Going up against one of the hottest teams across the State on the weekend, the Citrus College softball team's offense came up short. The Owls mustered just four total runs across two different games in a 9-1 and 9-3 loss to SoCal #1 Cypress College.

The Owls got in an early home in the first contest of the game, falling behind 2-0 after the bottom of the first. Citrus would show signs of a small rally in the top of the second when sophomore Haley Gomez hit a single to center field that plated sophomore Kali Smith, but Citrus failed to score any more runs for the rest of the game. Citrus did put runners in scoring position in both the fourth and fifth innings, but each time Citrus came up just empty.

In second game, Cypress blitzed the Owls hard scoring five runs in the bottom of the first and four more in the bottom of the third. Citrus was able to salvage the game and prevent it from ending early in the top of the fourth with three runs getting an RBI from freshman Jade Nua and a pair of RBIs from freshman Karissa Martinez. The Owls would only put on a single base runner over the final three innings though as they fell by six runs.

With the pair of losses, Citrus drops to 5-13 overall. The Owls will be back home on Tuesday afternoon for a pair of WSC Blue games when they host Antelope Valley College. Game one first pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
