Glendora, CA - After ending the 2016 Ventura College Tournament in less than ideal fashion with back to back losses on Sunday, the Citrus College Softball team got back on track on Tuesday afternoon when they swept Santa Monica College in WSC Blue action 10-5 and 12-0.

In the opening tilt with the Corsairs the Owls actually fell behind early with Santa Monica scoring twice in the top of the first. The Owls weren't able to answer until the bottom of the second when they took a 3-2 lead with three runs. The Owls continued with the offensive onslaught with five more in the third. Santa Monica would try to rally with three scores in the top of the fifth, but the Owls scored twice more in the bottom of the sixth on their way to the five run victory.

Sophomore Makael Moore led the way at the plate going 2 for 3 with a pair of runs and three RBIs. Moore helped her own cause as she improved to 7-9 in the circle with the win.

In the second game, it was all Citrus. The Owls scored six runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back. Sophomore Autumn Bartholomy threw five shutout innings, scattering seven hits and a walk, while striking out three in the shutout win. At the plate, sophomore Haley Gomez went 3 for 4 with a pair of runs. Moore would finish 2 for 3 with a run and an RBI.

With the wins, Citrus improves to 12-19 overall and 7-5 in WSC Blue play. The Owls will be back at home on Thursday when they host Bakersfield College in a crucial conference match-up at 3:00 PM.
