Sylmar, CA - The Citrus College Softball team's last second attempt at a comeback at LA Mission on Thursday afternoon came up short. The Owls scored a run in the top of the seventh to pull within a single score, but never got closer in a 5-4 loss to the Eagles.

The Owls would take an early 1-0 lead in the contest after scoring a single run in the top of the second. Citrus' lead would last until the bottom of the third, when Mission nabbed the lead with a pair of scores. The Eagles would add another in the bottom of the fourth, but Citrus rallied with two in the top of the fifth to tie the game up at 3-3.

The seesaw game would see LA Mission take the lead back in the bottom of the sixth with two more scores, before Citrus would try to rally in the top of the seventh. The Owls would score a single run, but come up empty in the final frame, getting handed the one-run loss.

Sophomore Haley Gomez was 2 for 4 with an RBI in the loss, while freshman Alyssa Rodriguez continued her recent hot play with a 2 for 3 afternoon.

With the loss, Citrus drops to 8-17 overall and 5-5 in WSC Blue play. The Owls will resume play this weekend, taking their final break from conference action to participate in the Ventura Tournament.
