Glendora, CA – The Citrus College Softball team ended their 2016 season on a high note on Tuesday when they closed out their campaign with a sweep of LA Mission College. The Owls controlled both games, winning 7-0 and 5-1.

The Owls got things started off right when freshman Celine Spathias swatted a two run home run in the bottom of the first inning. Sophomore Autumn Bartholomy would add an RBI in the bottom of the fourth with a double to right-center.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Owls scored their fourth run thanks to a Mission error, and in the bottom of the sixth, Citrus made sure there was no doubt thanks to RBIs from freshmen Alyssa Rodriguez and Erin Murphy.

In the circle, sophomore Makaele Moore was fantastic, giving up just four hits and one walks across a complete game, fanning four batters.

In the second game, the Eagles scored the first run on a solo home run to right field. Moore would settled down after that though, giving up just five more hits and walking none over the rest of the game, striking out three more batters in the process.

The offense meanwhile quickly gave her the lead back with three scores in the bottom of the first. Freshman Jade Nua drove in a run on a sacrifice fly to left. Bartholomy hit an RBI single to right, and freshman Karissa Martinez hit an RBI single to left to make it 3-1.

Nua would add another RBI in the bottom of the second with a single to left field that scored sophomore Haley Gomez. Gomez would drive in the last run of the year with an RBI single back up the middle of the field in the bottom of the fifth that brought in her teammate Martinez.

With the two wins, Citrus' season comes to a close with a 18-22 overall record and 13-8 mark in WSC Blue play.
