Glendale, CA - The Citrus College Softball team took two at Glendale College on Tuesday afternoon. The Owls started slow but won going away in the first game, and used a three run seventh in the second game to secure a one run victory.

The Owls fell into an early hole in Game #1, as the Vaqueros scored twice in the bottom of the first inning. Citrus would rally with a run in each of the second and third innings to tie the game up, before taking their first lead with three in the fourth. The Owls added a pair in the fifth, and one more in the seventh to reach their eight runs, while holding Glendale to a single score over the final six innings, for an 8-3 win.

Freshman Seanna Jimenez went 2-for-5 with a pair of runs and RBIs in the win, while sophomore Karissa Martinez was 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Freshman Danielle Dominguez ran her record to 16-5 on the season, pitching a complete game, scattering eight hits, three runs, and a pair of walks while striking out four Glendale batters.

In the second game, Glendale once again jumped out to an early lead scoring two in the first and one in the second to go up 3-0. The Owls scored six in the top of the third and one more in the fourth to go in front 7-3, but a five run spurt by the Vaqueros in the fifth put them back ahead 8-7.

Citrus had an answer for Glendale with a pair of scores in the top of the sixth, but Glendale bounced right back with three in the bottom of the sixth to move back in front 11-9. Needing a big top of the seventh, Citrus got just that with three scores that gave Citrus their 12-11 victory.

In the win, Citrus was paced by Jimenez who was 3-for-5 with two scores and freshman Valerie Ortiz who went 3-for-5 with two scores and three RBIs. Freshman Alyssa Roman was 2-for-3 with four RBIs, and sophomore Celine Spathias went 2-for-5.

With the two wins, Citrus improved to 23-12 overall and 12-3 in WSC East play. The Owls will be back at home for their regular season finale on Thursday against LA Valley College. First pitch is set for 2:30 PM.
