Paredez Takes Over Citrus Softball for Boxley

Glendora, CA - Longtime Citrus College Assistant Softball Coach Terry Paredez has been named the new Head Coach of the Citrus College Softball program. Paredez takes over for Jackie Boxley, who presided over the Owls for the most successful stretch in program history. Boxley stepped down from the dugout at the conclusion of the 2017 season and has accepted a role as an Assistant Athletic Director at Citrus College.

"My time out on the softball field with the student-athletes at Citrus College has been extremely fulfilling," Boxley said. "It's bittersweet to be stepping away from the field, but I'm excited for my new role inside the athletic department. I'm also extremely excited that the program is being left in such good hands with Terry taking over head coaching duties."

Boxley was in charge of the Owls for 13 seasons, with Paredez alongside of her for 12 of those 13 years. In that span, Citrus College won 336 games, including 196 in Western State Conference play (.726 winning percentage), three WSC titles (2007, 2014, 2015), 10 post-season appearances, and two CCCAA Super Regional appearances.

"This is an exciting opportunity for myself and my family," Paredez said. "I have huge shoes to fill here at Citrus, but I'm confident that we will continue to have the program be one of the top programs in the State. I know that Jackie will be there cheering us on the whole way, and I'm glad we will still have her supporting us at an administrative level."

Paredez's resume reaches beyond the success that Citrus College has had. Paredez has coached with a number of successful travel ball programs in Southern California, helping take those teams to the PGF Nationals, TCS Nationals, and the USSSA Western Nationals. Paredez also spent four years as an assistant with the Bonita High School softball program. In that stretch, the Bearcats won back-to-back Miramonte League titles, and qualified for the CIF post-season all four years.
