With unbeaten conference records on the line, Citrus College and Antelope Valley College clashed Tuesday and the Marauders grabbed a 7-0 victory.

The Owls drop to 9-18 overall and 3-1 in the Western State Conference, while the Marauders improve to 15-5 and 3-0 with their seventh-straight win.

Citrus was held in check offensively as AVC allowed just six Owl hits. Layla Prieto led the Owls with two hits, while Alexis Cordero, Patty Rodriguez, Mia Godoy, and Tatiana Figueroa each had a hit in the game.

The Owls tried to put together late rallies, putting two runners on in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings, along with loading the bases in the second, but the Marauders secured the final out of each inning to seal the 7-0 win.

Citrus takes a brief break from conference action for a contest at Mt. San Jacinto on Thursday, before heading to Bakersfield College – currently in first in the WSC-East standings – next Tuesday.
