Citrus College struck first but couldn't hold off the College of the Canyons, falling 4-1 in its third game in five days.

The Owls slip to 11-21 on the year and 3-4 in the Western State Conference-East. The Cougars improve to 18-10-1 overall and 4-3 in conference.

Patty Rodriguez led the Owls with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate, while Jaidyn Harris finished with seven strikeouts and one earned run.

Citrus got on the board first after Tatiana Figueroa knocked a hard ball back to the pitcher and made her way to third base. Mia Godoy stepped up to the plate and drilled a base hit through the right side to send Figueroa home.

The Cougars answered back in the top of the second and then took advantage of some Owl miscues to score one run in the fifth and two runs in the sixth to seal the victory.

The Owls head to Glendale College on Thursday for a 2:30 p.m. game.
