Citrus College closed out the 2022 campaign in style with an 8-5 victory over LA Mission.
The Owls finish the year with a 15-23 overall record and 6-6 in Western State Conference action.
After going down 2-0 after the first inning, Citrus battled back and took the lead with four runs in the fourth. With two outs and bases loaded, Jillian Walker drilled a double to send all three runners in. Ericka Pineda followed with a base hit to give Walker the green light to go home.
The Owls tacked on four more runs in the fifth to hold an 8-2 upper hand. Citrus loaded the bases with one out and a fielder's choice plated one run after the Eagles messed up the play at the plate. Walker drove in two more runs with a base hit before Pineda capped the inning with another RBI single.
LA Mission scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth and one run in the seventh, but Jaidyn Harris and her Owl defense wouldn't surrender the lead to secure the victory.
