After the weather rearranged the schedule and pushed Citrus College's home opener up, the Owls battled but dropped an 8-3 loss to El Camino College to start the season.

Citrus begins the year at 0-1, while the Warriors improve to 3-0.

Eight different Owls grabbed hits in the game, led by Patty Rodriguez who went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

Citrus didn't wait long and plated two runs in its first chance at the plate. Jasani Zavalza knocked a hard ball to shortstop to get things going before Rodriguez joined her on base with a double off the fence in center field. A wild pitch allowed Zavalza to run home before Desiree Loza singled through the left side to score Rodriguez.

El Camino scored one run in the fourth and two more in the fifth to take the lead, but a Rodriguez home run in the bottom half of the fifth tied things up, 3-3.

The Warriors cut the tie in their next chance at the plate, however, scoring five runs to take the lead and held on for the win.

Citrus looks to bounce back with a quick turnaround as it heads to Mt. San Jacinto on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
